MUD WRESTLING MADNESS CONTINUES: Where Champions Are Made and ...

MUSCLES ARE STRAINED AND FACES MADE IN THIS INTENSE WORLD OF MUD WRESTLING MADNESS...where championships are won and lost like the game of craps. When one becomes too lucky, a challenger appears to roll them into the reality of Rastlin' roulette. In the words of DIRTBAG DOTTI: "Honey, when your number comes up there's only one thing you can do--start kicking ass and forget about the rules. Either you'll be called or you won't--it's all about protecting your own side of the pit, if you know what I mean." Tyme magazine reporters follow this sport in lieu of dirty politics because, as one reporter who prefers to remain unidentified said, "It;s all the same, dirty as hell, but this in on a level where the people can see what's going down, if you know what I mean."

Woolco, Wal-Mart 23rd St. 1_wm

In the photostream, this will be out of order. But in the photoset for Woolco Store, Independence MO, it is immediately after the original dark photo.

EDITED VERSION! Lightened up the building, but washed out the sky. Oh well. I don't take pictures of sky--I take pictures of buildings!

When Wal-Mart first came to the Kansas City area, in about 1982, they built some new stores, and in other cases, they renovated what I am convinced are old WOOLCO stores.

This former Woolco, former Wal-Mart, is now a gigantic Price Chopper food store.

Gas station, Hwy 24, 4_wm

When I first saw this building, now a cafe, I thought I was looking at a donut shop, maybe even a former Dunkin Donuts or Mister Donut.

I would not have guessed it was a former gas station, as the bay doors are concealed better than in many conversions.

But the back view leaves little doubt this was a metal-clad service station.

King's Food Host 2, east facing side_wm

EDITING some older uploads, mostly lightening the exposure, to show details. You may want to delete the bad ones you have "Favorited," once you see the better ones.

This is a fine example of a King's Food Host restaurant in the years when the brick had little patterns, and the canopy was perforated aluminum. Isn't this just delicious?

Note that it does NOT have the 45 degree corner windows, as some locations did.

Back of what I think is King's Food Host, Noland_wm

EDITING some older uploads, mostly lightening the exposure, to show details. You may want to delete the bad ones you have "Favorited," once you see the better ones.

This is along Noland Road, the legendary North-South thoroughfare thru Independence MO. Rear view of restaurant.

I am not 100% sure it was a King's Food Host, but given my other pics, it seems a safe bet. Would you agree?

Western Auto, Noland Rd 1_wm

When I was doing courier/delivery work, in fall 1994, I purchased an old 1979 Ford Fairmont wagon, to use, so as to spare my nice Thunderbird from the beating and miles.

One day I had to buy a batter or something in this store, and install it on the spot, for the ol' Fairmont wagon.

PRESIDENT TRUMAN: THE BUCK STOPPED ON HIS DESK...

To presume that it was the Attorney General's decision to investigate the CIA is a joke.

President Obama is the President. In my opinion,it is a clear case of Obama slapping the face of the CIA and our men and women who are employed by the CIA. The majority of the American public was against this idea when it was first issued. The public made it clear that they were thrilled when the President finally stated, for the second or third time, that he was not going to pursue the matter anymore.

Now, after the President said he planned to move on, he reverses his decision once again. This makes the majority of the American public very sad. It is now my opinion that President Obama had no intention of dismissing this issue.

There are two groups of people who are pleased about this major decision our President has made: the far left radical wing and the enemy, the terrorists, the religious fanatics who began this entire issue on 11 September 2001 when they murdered more than 3000 men, women and children on our homeland's soil, in New York City.

America has not forgotten and the majority of Americans have not forgiven. Nor should Americans be expected to forgive the unforgiving..

This has made our men and women who are in the CIA vulnerable, once again, to the enemy. Many are surely wondering, now, who the enemy is.

This was, in my opinion, a decision that will undermine our men and women in uniform; it is a decision that affected the morale of every individual in the military. It has lowered the morale of the troops.

This is a decision that will cause the enemy to feel they have the sympathy of the President of the United States. Despite what happens to the economy, this is a decision that will, I predict, cost the Democrats the next Presidential election.

Now, there is no longer a feeling that the GOP must find a candidate with Obama's charisma and appeal. He has, in my opinion, sacrificed his charisma and much public appeal by making this decision. Now, the GOP will be looking for a candidate who would not have made the type of decision made by Obama today. Today is a day that will in the minds of the men and women in military uniforms for the rest of their lives
